ABOUT THE PROJECT

A museum made from voluntary gestures

Learn why the Museum of Voluntary Satoshis records small, voluntary Bitcoin gestures as an independent digital art project.

An internet-native exhibition

The Museum of Voluntary Satoshis is an independent online exhibition about participation, memory and the smallest unit of bitcoin. It turns a voluntary transfer into a public cultural gesture: a chosen name, an optional message and a place in a growing digital collection.

Not an investment

The museum does not sell bitcoin, provide financial services or promise a return. A contribution is voluntary support for maintaining this experiment. The only recognition offered is publication in the collection after payment verification and moderation.

Why satoshis?

A satoshi is the smallest unit recorded by the Bitcoin protocol: one hundred-millionth of a bitcoin. Its tiny scale makes it a useful symbol for the project. The museum is interested in the meaning people attach to a gesture, not in ranking people by wealth.
